Walgett

                                                            (SBS, n.d.)

Walgett it is our fifth stop for our trip. We decided to picket the local RSL since it did not allow any aborigines into it. We also got media coverage for this which is excellent. We held posters up outside of the RSL and even the local Aboriginal committee joined us in our protest. We got forced to leave. the pastor had woken us up and told us we were in danger here. so we got up and packed our gear quickly. I raced up to the bus and started it up.We left at about midnight and had cars and trucks following us out of the town. One of the trucks caused the bus that I had hired out run off the road and crash. The other vehicles had gone from around us. luckily once we had been helped out by the local aboriginal people that supported us through a battle in their town. Also a journalist had seen the accident and it became news headlines in The Sydney Morning Herald, The Daily Mirror and The Australian Mirror (Skwirk, 2015).
